Day 1: Los Angeles
Arrive in Los Angeles and proceed to your hotel.
The day is free to enjoy. Whether it's Universal
Studios or Disneyland, the beach or Beverly Hills,
there is much to see in the City of Angels.
Day 2: Los Angeles - Santa Barbara - Central
California Coast
(178m/285km)This morning depart northward to
enjoy the Pacific Coast Highway One, considered
one of the most beautiful roads in America.Travel
through Malibu and pass the hillside and oceanfront
homes of the well heeled and almost famous.Then,
along the coast to historic Santa Barbara and San
Simeon, where you can take time to visit Hearst
Castle once the summer home to publishing tycoon
William Randolph Hearst.
Day 3: Central California Coast - 17-Mile Drive
- San Francisco
(218m/349km) Depart for Monterey. Drive along
the scenic 17 Mile Drive, with stunning vistas of the
Pacific Coast and Carmel-by-the-Sea. Monterey was
once the capital of Alta California during the
Spanish, Mexican and early U.S. rule. Continue north
to the Bay City, San Francisco.Take a cable car to
famous Lombard Street or Fisherman's Wharf.Visit
Chinatown, Union Square or stroll through the
charming streets of the city’s ethnic neighbourhoods.
Day 4: San Francisco
Full day to explore this city and its surroundings.
Take a tour to Alcatraz Island or enjoy a ride on the
famous Cable Cars. Perhaps you would like to catch
a ferry to Sausalito for a first-hand look at the
picturesque artist colony across the Bay. Only a
short drive away is the famed Muir Woods, one of
the remaining
best-preserved groves of redwoods.
Day 5: San Francisco - Yosemite National Park
(225m/380km) This morning depart from the Pacific
Coast towards the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
Crossing the Oakland Bay Bridge you will pass
through scenic Gold Rush Country before arriving
into majestic Yosemite National Park. Explore the
valley floor with unforgettable vistas of granite
peaks and cascading waterfalls.
Day 6:Yosemite National Park - Sequoia National
Park / Visalia
(280m/450km) Revisit Yosemite in the early
morning hours for the most peaceful moments in
the park. Cross through Fresno, the raisin capital of
the world in the agricultural heartland of the
Central Valley. Return via orange groves and the
foothills of the Sierras for this afternoon’s visit to
Sequoia National Park, home to the giant Sequoia
trees. Be sure to take the hike through the Giant
Forest grove to the massive General Sherman Tree
considered to be the largest living thing on Earth.
Continue to Visalia.
Day 7: Sequoia National Park / Visalia -
Mojave desert - Death Valley National Park
(305m/488km) Depart the rich farmlands of central
California over the Tehachapi pass for a stark
contrast in natural scenery.This is the desert
country of Mojave consisting of barren landscape,
cactus and Joshua Trees.The city of Mojave is home
to Voyager, famous for being the first airplane to
circle the earth on one tank of fuel in 1986.
Continue on to the lowest point in North America,
unique Death Valley National Park.
Day 8: Death Valley National Park - Las Vegas
(150m/240km) Make an early morning departure
to appreciate the breathtaking view of the valley
from Zabriskie Point.Take the short drive to
Badwater, which at 282ft (86m) under sea level is
considered the lowest spot in the Western
Hemisphere.Then it's on to the spectacular manmade
oasis of Las Vegas.
Day 9: Las Vegas
This day is at leisure. Las Vegas is a city that never
sleeps.Try your hand with “Lady Luck” or see one
of the many famous shows with top-name
performers.This city of glitz and glamour will dazzle
you with its colossal hotels, glittering lights, casinos
action and headline shows.Take the time to visit the
well known resorts with their individual themes and
a myriad of attractions or just relax poolside.
Day 10: Las Vegas - Los Angeles
(275m/440km) Depart Las Vegas for the return to
California. Pass Baker, a hot desert community better
known for its tall thermometer. Make a stop in
Calico Ghost Town, once a booming silver town
where whiskey was cheaper than water. Calico's
attractions include a mine tour, a museum and a
train ride. Stop in Barstow for lunch or shopping at
the numerous outlet malls lining the freeway. Cross
the San Gabriel mountain range past San Bernardino
and into the expansive Los Angeles basin.
