Day 1: Los Angeles
Arrive in Los Angeles and proceed to your hotel.
Day 2: Los Angeles - Disneyland - Palm Springs
(135m /216km) Travel to Anaheim and visit the
original Magic Kingdom Disneyland (separate
admission). Depart coastal California via the Mojave
Desert before arriving in fashionable Palm Springs.
Day 3: Palm Springs - Phoenix / Scottsdale
(280m/448km) Drive through Palm Desert, Indian
Wells and the vast Coachella Valley as you pass
Joshua Tree National Park. Cross the Colorado
River at Blythe. Arrive late afternoon in Phoenix
/Scottsdale. Evening at leisure in this resort town.
Day 4: Phoenix / Scottsdale - Sedona - Grand Canyon
(220m/352km) Travel through a landscape of barren
rock and Saguaro cactus into the Verde Valley.Visit
Montezuma Castle (separate admission), a wellpreserved
Native American cliff dwelling before
heading to Sedona. Ascend through Oak Creek
Canyon to Flagstaff, pass the San Francisco Peaks on
the way to the Grand Canyon. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 5: Grand Canyon - Monument Valley Navajo
Tribal Park - Lake Powell / Page
(311m/498km) Depart the Grand Canyon and follow
the south rim to Navajo country. Cross the Little
Colorado Gorge at Cameron and drive through the
Painted Desert, ancestral home to both the Navajo
and Hopi Indian nations. Spend the afternoon in
Monument Valley. Arrive in Lake Powell and Page.
Day 6: Page - Bryce Canyon - Zion - St. George
(223m/357km) Pass through scenic Kanab and on
to whimsical Bryce Canyon National Park. After
exploring Bryce Canyon, continue to Zion National
Park rich in geological features with names like The
Three Patriarchs, Bridge Mountain, White Throne,
and the Temple of Sinawava. Depart the park and
continue west to overnight in St. George.
Day 7: St. George - Las Vegas
(118m/190km) Should you desire, revisit Zion
National Park to see more of this impressive Gorge
carved by the mighty Virgin River.Then continue to
Las Vegas, the man-made miracle in the desert.
Day 8: Las Vegas
A day at leisure.Try your hand at ‘Lady Luck’ or see
one of the many shows with headlined performers.
This city of glitz and glamour will dazzle you with its
colossal hotels, glittering lights, casinos action and star
studded entertainment.Visit the well know resorts
with their individual themes and a myriad of
attractions or just relax by the pool or in the casinos.
Day 9: Las Vegas - Death Valley / Ridgecrest
(263m/420km) Travel deep into the Mojave Desert
for an early break in Death Valley National Park.
Find the lowest point in the Western hemisphere;
mountains over 11,000ft; large sand dunes; isolated
valleys and volcanic craters. Cross the high desert
Towne Pass with spectacular views of the Sierra
Nevada Mountains and descend into neighbouring
Panamint valley before continuing to Ridgecrest.
Day 10: Ridgecrest-Lake Isabella-Oakhurst/Yosemite
(261m/417km) Cross the Owens Valley and into the
Sierra foothills. Cross the mountains and enter the
vast agricultural Central Valley and Bakersfield. On the
way lies Fresno, the gateway to Yosemite National
Park. Continue into the Sierra foothills to Oakhurst.
Day 11: Oakhurst / Yosemite - San Francisco
(225m/380km) Visit magnificent Yosemite early in the
morning where the most picturesque spots can be
seen from the valley floor. Pass through scenic Gold
Rush Country before crossing the Oakland Bay
Bridge in to cosmopolitan San Francisco.
Day 12: San Francisco
Full day at leisure.Take a boat tour to Alcatraz Island,
enjoy a ride on the San Francisco Cable Cars
(separate admissions), or a stroll through Chinatown.
It is also possible to drive the short distance north
to Napa and California Wine Country.
Day 13: San Francisco - 17-Mile Drive -
California Coast / Arroyo Grande
(271m/434km) Drive along the scenic Pacific
Coast to Santa Cruz and the Monterey Bay.Take
the 17-Mile Drive, a scenic coastal route through the
Del Monte Forest that includes The Lone Cypress
Point and world famous Pebble Beach to Carmel by
the Sea. End this day of picturesque splendour in the
California coastal region.
Day 14: California Coast-Santa Barbara-Los Angeles
(158m/225km) Take the coastal highway to the well
know community of millionaires and movie stars,
Santa Barbara. Located at the base of the Santa Ynez
Mountains this stylish beach community offers a
relaxed atmosphere with a Mediterranean climate.
Continue to Ventura, Malibu and Los Angeles. |
